The District's eclectic fusion of cultures is reflected in Metropolis. We designed this beer with the bold hop character of the west coast while preserving the rich-malty essence of the east coast tradition. The vibrant soul of the Nation's Capitol is amplified in every session.

Pours clean and unassuming. This IPA isn’t auditioning. Mild hop aroma, nothing aggressive, which is exactly the point. The taste is where it earns its keep: soft bitterness, approachable, with enough hop character to confirm its category without beating you over the head with it. Feel is smooth, medium body, carbonation that rides easy, nothing fighting your palate. Overall, this is a porch IPA. A breeze-blowing, no-pretense, too-considered-for-a-Budweiser-but-not-trying-to-impress-anyone beer. My home base is porters and stouts, so I’m not handing out 5s to IPAs. But Metropolis does exactly what it sets out to do and that restraint is a skill. The fact that this IPA is just above basic is what I enjoy about it.

Not a bad looking pour; a light haze on the gold body along with a good head that lingered. Laid back aroma that was a bit leathery but basically indistinguishable. Dank flavor, not unpleasant just simple. More graininess nearer the finish. Light-to-medium bodied mouthfeel matched with decent carbonation. Not a groundbreaker but not a drain pour.
