From the half liter bottle, it pours a clear golden color with a modest white head that soon diminishes to a thin ring. Nose gets grassy hops, followed by the mouth getting a nicely bitter malt brew. Mild bitter aftertaste. Not a bad German pilsner except for the lack of a long lasting head...

November 2006: 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, decent head. Unusual aroma for a German pils: butterscotch, boiled vegetables, rotting grass, some malts. Where are the aromatic hops? Aroma gets slightly better as the beer warms up a little, and the butterscotch dominates. Flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, there’s a certain hoppy bitterness on a moderate and slightly sweet malty base, hints of butterscotch in the background. Drinkable, but Kraus Lager is better!

Half litre bottle, fairly large head that quickly went. Nice golden colour, very clear, not many bubbles. Slight red cabbage smell. Fairly bitter taste, hints of nut as with many beers from the region, could also detect some sour dough. Overall a crisp refreshing pils, lots of gas. Nothing spectacular but decent.

Sampled on cask at the Memphis Taproom in Philadelphia, PA, USA - 10/17/2009.
From a cask it pours a just-slightly-hazy golden body beneath an average-sized head (one finger) of bright white lace. The head retention and lacing are average.
The aroma is limited with a fairly basic combination of malt and hops.
In the flavor it delivers a slightly buttery and gently bready malt balanced by floral and spicy hops and a solid bitterness. It finishes dry and spicy.
As to drinkability, it's pretty much a basic German style Pilsener, but with a restrained bitterness. It has a good appearance, a good aroma, a good flavor, and a great drinkability - solid!!! Absolutely worth trying.
