Let's start with the superb. This is the friendliness brewpub I've ever been to. The staff, without exception, was convivial, knowledgable, and caring--a rare combination. With an open display kitchen, the cooks interacted with all of the counter patrons. Service for both food and beer was intended for people to go up to the counter regardless of where they were sitting, but the attendant went around and took orders for food and beer once a credit card was left.
The place is large with a smaller kitchen and a full brewery in the back (I could smell the wort when I walked in). The ceilings are 14-16 feet high and are open (industrial-like).
I went for lunch on a Thursday. The lunch menu was limited to bar-friendly fare, but it was made very well in front of you. Both cooks were very friendly, chatty, and helpful. The beers were varied but limited to 11 - 12 offerings (2 stouts, 2 IPAs, and the rest all over the place, including lagers).
Overall, this may be a new favorite for me, although it is a bit far from Boston (about 45 minutes south) located in a not-so-nice city.
