16oz can dated 10/23/20.

Pours cloudy yellow with a massive, rocky head of white. Spongy lacing with moderate retention for the duration. Big tangerine in the nose with a hint of mango. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Clementines with peach and pineapple on the palate. Finishes juicy with minimal bitterness and zero malt.

I've enjoyed both of the previous GS IPAs, and I'm hoping this one makes for a hat trick for this young brewery (who are definitely eventually going to be dabbling in blending and farmhouse beer if all of the hashtags they use on social media are to be believed... and there is the name, of course). LOME is a NE-style double IPA featuring whirlpool and dry-hop additions of Mosaic and Citra hops. That is not exactly the most original thing in the world, but I trust Neil to do a good job with it.

Pours an opaque yellow-orange color with a stable haze and a thin ring of foam that builds up to about a finger-and-a-half at its highest point, leaving behind consistent lace and excellent legs. Despite being a very generic pour, this one does have superb cohesion and feels like a very solid beer right off the bat. You can tell care was put into the recipe to get it to look like this, and I can appreciate that.

The nose here is tropical smoothie with a touch of citrus and a yeast-like quality that seems to carry throughout. I can pick up lychee, ripe mango flesh, papaya, and tangerine with a hint of grassy dankness and some earthy herbal qualities kind of lying below the surface. It feels slightly rough-around-the-edges, somehow, though. Guess we'll see how it comes across on the palate.

First sip is a bit juicy and fruity with some fruit gum, tangelo, mango, pineapple, and guava-like acidity, but the mid-palate feels a little stale and boring. It's not as vivacious and bright as I was expecting, and the yeastiness I picked up in the nose carries over to the tongue in a rather unappealing way. The carbonation is definitely on the low end, which also contributes to this "smoothie"-like feel, but I actually just feel like it's not engaging. I know the can talks about using "significant portions of protein-rich adjuncts, which produce a hefty body and a soft, silky mouthfeel," but... it just seems a bit unimpressive to me. Not bad, mind you: it just doesn't sit in the upper echelon of Citra/Mosaic IPAs or stronger NEIPAs for me personally. Was expecting a bit more here, but you can't always get what you want.
