This style of beer originated in San Francisco, and has been affectionately dubbed the California Common Style. Our Cobblestone Steam is amber in color, clear, and has an off-white head. There is a medium bodied mouthfeel to go with the medium to high carbonation. The finish is crisp and dry, with a lingering hop bitterness. This style of beer is quite delicious, and is available throughout the year at the brewery.

Pours an amber hugh with about a small off white head.

Not to much of a scent coming off this one. Some subtle hops and thats about it, nothing jumps out at all.

Some caramel malts up with a decent hop balance. Tasted better than anticipated.

Poor mouthfeel. Low carbonation and watered down. Very thin.

Appearance- Very thin looking and dark. It looked more like soda or tea than beer which seems to be a trend with this brewery. There was no head or lace. Also a trend with this brewery.

Smell- There was not much to the aroma a little bit of malt and that was about it.

Taste- Weak is the best way to describe it. There is a little hop bite at the end and that is about it.

Mouthfeel. A very light watery beer.

Drinkability- I would order something else.

Welp, this was a real bummer. Only had one pint, it was too unbalanced to drink more than that.

Pour was ok, dark amber ruby red (copper) with a lacey but small ivory head. Not much aroma, just some subtle hints of hop.

Way over hopped, astringent and harshly bitter with a hot piney push and finish. Moved right on to the Alt after downing the glass.

The server informed me this beer is one of the best sellers...not sure why.
On initial viewing, I thought the server had brought me the wrong beer. It was dark brown in color, with good carbonation and a light head. Smell was barely distinguishable...but there, slight citrusy hop aroma. Tasted slightly bitter, but was almost overpowered by the sweetness and lingered on the palate for a little too long. Seemed heavy and thick to me. I was not impressed.

I have tasted only one steam brew aside from Anchor that even comes close in that perfect flavor…and this is not it. Nice deep amber color and thin lace on the glass, the complex malt profile, while being unique, overpowers the hops that should come through and punch the brew into your skull. Not a bad bitter bite in the end, but the flavors are a off for the style.
