This spring seasonal has a strong malty aroma, with little to no noble hop aroma. This style is a malt forward deep golden amber colored lager, with a white head. Stronger than its cousin, Munich Helles, Maibock’s flavor is clean and well balanced between bitter and sweet. “Mai” translates to “May,” and is typically thought of as a spring festival beer. This is a seasonal that can be found at our brewery from March – May.

A clear amber pour, small white head gives way and leaves thin lace rings. A sniff of this brew reveals a touch of sweet malt and light spices, progressing into the taste. Crisp and dry finish, this could be good spring session brew. Smooth drinking beer.

Standard Maibock, but tasty enough to try if at Morgan Street.

My first try with Morgan Street Brewery (located in the historic "Landing" area of downtown St. Louis, two blocks up fro the the Mississippi River. The brewing equipment (specially designed for the building) produces many styles, such as the Honey Wheat and Steam Lager, that are available year round.

I found their MaiBock very refreshing on a warm saturday afternoon. Maibocks are often interrelated with spring festivals and celebrations like The Great Midwest Beer Fest in May of 2005.
A paler version of the classic Bock beer. Nice appearance. Sweet, malty flavors dominate this extra-strong lager with understated hop level for the style. I thought their Alt Bier was interesting also.
