My goodness, but the reefer is giving up its dead here at Chez Woody as the purge of the Bottle Backlog continues unabated! This one came from one of my many trips to StL many years ago. My first visit was in 2003 as the then-current iteration of Busch Stadium was being phased out & I went to see the Pirates play a 3-game series. I returned as a wandering beer vagabond during the Summer of 2006 & then a year (or so) later, in late-December 2007 for the PGH Stillers/StL Rams Thursday Night game. This had to have been procured on one of those visits. 8=O
From the Bottle: "Saint Louis".
I Pop!ped the cap & girded myself for the worst. When nothing untoward happened, I started an extremely slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. It was more of a trickle than a pour, actually. I got a brief finger of foamy, soapy, tawny head with limited retention for my trouble. Color was a magnificent Coppery-Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a sweet breadiness, but comparatively light. Mouthfeel was kind of thin & watery. The taste had a mild biscuitiness. Finish was semi-dry. Not bad for an aged Lager. YMMV.
