This unfiltered kellerbier pours an orange color with a large foamy white head and a somewhat high amount of carbonation. The appearance is somewhat surprising in that it is darker than other kellerbiers that I’ve seen and it is surprisingly transparent since it’s an unfiltered beer. The scent is typical of the style: yeasty and crisp. The taste is also fairly typical with yeast dominating, although flavors of bread and caramel also come through. The finish is super dry and somewhat bitter. This is hopped more than the average kellerbier. The body is on the low end of medium, but I would say a little heavier than the average for the style. Everything is pretty on point for the style and I even like the extra body, so you can’t really complain too much. For my personal taste however, the extra hops don’t combine in a pleasant way with the unbelievably dry finish. It leaves my mouth feeling really dehydrated.
