May 2026.
(First ever) collaboration between two of the highest-quality breweries producing hoppy beers (IPA, American IPA, APA, etc.) in Italy:
Birrificio Agricolo Crak and Alder Beer CO.
33cl can (€7 from the beer shop fridge).
Brewed with fresh whole hop cones grown by CRAK on its own land in Campodarsego (Province of Padua, Veneto Region, Northeast Italy) and personally selected by the two Master Brewers (Marco Valeriani of Alder and Marco Ruffa of CRAK).
On the nose, citrus and resinous notes expand upon pouring.
Beautiful golden color, only slightly cloudy.
Light head and thin consistency.
Medium body on the palate, with a noticeable but not at all bothersome malt component.
Virtually no carbonation, the beer is flat.
Excellent citrus flavors (orange peel, grapefruit, citron) are found with nuances of sweeter fruit like apricot and melon, leading to a pleasantly bitter, resinous, and citrusy finish without compromise: dry, but also with a noticeable residual bitterness of pine needles and more citrus (bitter) that lingers on the tongue.
The palate features citrus and fruity notes (summer and tropical fruit), with a subtle, yet present, hint of malted cereal.
Excellent drinking, with a good bitter finish. It's a shame about the lack of liveliness in the carbonation, which would have contributed both to the ease of drinking and to giving the beer more character. However, it remains excellent and certainly a cut above the average craft beer that seeks a "compromise" with the taste of the average/beginner craft beer drinker.
