Even though I traded for this a while ago, it was a perfect time to have this as the crickets chirping made tonight still feel like summer. Lovely from the get-go, this had the look and feel that I've come to expect from Tin Barn as it didn't feel anywhere near as strong as the ABV listed on the can!
The pour to this was typical for a brew from Tin Barn as the liquid was a hazy honey with a few bits of dark sediment that ended up at the bottom once I poured everything from the can out. A nice and full offsetting head topped this out as the foam quietly settled. A lot of thin, layered rings remained as I worked my way through this with each one bleeding down to the one below it. Lots of deep orange blossom, tangerine cream, stone and tropical fruit rind, and turbid hops in the nose as the taste beautifully followed suit. A bit of swamp water, cream, subtle weed, and star fruit emerged once this fully warmed up as the Strata and Motueka were a bit stronger than the Citra here which resulted in an enjoyable New England IPA that was just a bit heavier than a typical brew of this sort.
There was just enough creamsicle sweetness and carbonation to keep this light on the palate as the alcohol was only felt on my breath and not in the taste. Dated 7/8, this tasted fine as there was just a bit of burn from the sediment when I had it during my last few sips. Quite sticky and pulpy and low in carbonation, this was bug juice in a can but only more enjoyable and worthy of another go-around. It's brews like this that have be loving Tin Barn and the fitting label was the icing on the cake on a solid beer that was quite enjoyable in every way!
