Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Part of a trade with @jvgoor3786, thank you!
The beer pours a dark black coffee color with a dense fizzy beige head of 1 cm. This head fades to a sturdy edge layer and one large wispy island resting on the surface. Dense lattice clings to the glass when I swirl or take a sip of the beer.
Aroma is a little disappointing, I get dark chocolate and some roasted malt, and the faintest whiff of hazelnut. Had hoped for this to be a little more robust. The nose is fine, but underwhelms me a little.
First sip reveals a soft silky textured medium body with fine and tingly carbonation. Physical traits are nice on this one. Very smooth and drinkable.
Flavor is better and more robust than the nose. I get some dark chocolate, a bit of brown sugar, some light and sweet coffee notes and hazelnut. The nuttiness comes through on the finish and lingers for a bit after each swallow. I really like hazelnut in beers, stouts the best fit IMO. I dont get any ABV hints and hops may not have even been used in this beer, as there is no presence on nose or flavor profile.
So I am glad to have tried this one, and sorry the brewery is closed.
A solid sweet stout that I enjoy on this snowy Thursday evening.

Pours an effervescent ebony with a thumb of caramel colored head. Zero head retention & lacing
S: Cocoa & coffee
T: Dark chocolate, dryness, hazelnut, vanilla & a little coffee up front. Dryness, coffee, vanilla & cocoa as this warms, a little hazel nut on the edges. Finishes dry with a little coffee, milk chocolate & hazelnut
MF: Fairly chewy, low carbonation
Nice take on the style, a better nose & richer mouthfeel would boost this score-wise. Delivers on flavor
