This place is fantastic! Homages to Burma Shave and Route 66 abound. I'm talking about maps, postcards, clip art iconography, tin signs, and poems (examples follow). As a countrypunk/ rockabilly follower, it made me nostalgic for a time before I even existed. The waitstaff was really friendly and Tina remains one of the best bartenders/servers of all time. Roy Paris and Mike Killian were the owners/brewers when I was there in August 2003 and Roy was very accomodating as I went into full-on Beer Pest mode, asking to take pictures, to tour the brew house and just to hang out and soak in the atmosphere. Their stated motto is "We brew it, we drink it, you get what's left." Fair enough, because what's left is really good. My picks were the Rte. 66 Alt and the Apricot Wheat. A note of explanation on the latter: I was the genius who was out last summer during a heat wave that broke records, including one day of 110+ F and if you don't think that it was just the thing after schlepping around in that mess, then you hadda be there.

Driving by, this place looked like a hotel restaurant. It's connected to the side of a hotel and some other stuff so the place doesn't really stand out. The staff was super friendly and somewhat knowledgeable about the beer. I didn't think any of the beer was that good, but it was better than Bud. I probably would have liked the place more if I would have tried the food and had the whole dining experience, but as it was it was nothing great. I would go back, but not before I went to Schlafly or trying out another brewpub first.

Route 66 brewery is located in Union Station, they have a cool old route 66 theme going on. Good food and service with a family type atmoshere. Not a local hang out more tourist than anything. You should be able to find a beer you like. Be ready to pay for parking unless you like to go for a long walk.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here on "Hop in the City" weekend. Atmosphere is nicely casual with great music in the background. Separate eating and drinking areas make it easy for non-smokers. Super memorabilia and pictures. Great food that ranges from steaks and chops to burgers and pizza.
Their brews are decent, if not overly impressive and we found the servers and bartender to be as helpful as any we've ever encountered, but then that's typical of the St. Louis area. The setting is in the Union Station and very nice. Difficult parking if you don't go to the paid lots.

This brewpub is located in Union Station, a mall in downtown St. Louis. It is located near some hotels, and so it gets some hotel business, and it gets some business from the sporting events crowds at nearby Saavis Center, but other than that, it doesn't seem too busy (at least not when I have been there). The pub is decorated with memorabilia related to the famous Route 66, which passes through St. Louis. This brewery's original location was west of town, on Rt. 66. The bar is long and wooden, and the atmosphere is comfortable. The bartender on my last visit was friendly, generous, and knowledgable. They had 5 of their brews on tap, and 2 guest taps. I liked the Maple Oatmeal Stout. I didn't have a chance to try the food.
