crisp and good, well lagered, fresh on the grain side, and less hoppy than has become trendy with american brewers on these, its simple, not quite old school, but old world to me, a bit light and kind of minimal on the yeast side, but its clean and dry, which is what matters most here. some decent minerals to the water profile here, accentuating the grain, which is dry and earthy, not quite dusty but still german to me, fresher than many, and with high carbonation pushing through any lingering sweetness or body. this has nice clarity and carbonation, an herbal hop profile that brings just enough bitterness, and it has good balance the whole way. its not overly light, but its still got some ability to refresh, and it warms up better than a lot of these too, it doesnt fall apart or get overly malty, so no need to crank through it, although thats a choice too here. for being nondescript and understated in many ways, its also a little bit original, as much for feel as for flavor, and i can see why this appeared to be a house favorite when i was in. this place rules, cool beers, punk rock music, games, indoor food truck, legit!
