Copenhagen 16/8 2020. 50 cl bottle from Fish & Beers, Amagerbrogade, Kbh. S. Red and purple ribbon on the label. Looks a bit like something I would expect on the of my marzipan liqueur back in the eighties.
Pours opaque, murky dark brown with a medium-sized off-white head. Settles as thin, flimsy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet sugary odor mingling with a citric sour scent of hops. Roasted dark malts, chocolate, brown sugar. A bit of cured leather. Citrus and lime.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, smooth, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for as while. Finish is quite dry.
A fairly hoppy take on a Porter - but it actually works quite well and reminds me more of a black IPA than a Porter.
