Beer, or Alu, as the Vikings called it, plays a big role in our portrayal of the rugged Danish Vikings.
The Viking Age is evidence of a widespread beer and drinking culture, and Norse mythology and sagas tell of the drinking habits of the time. Drinking was done on a daily basis and at parties, before and after battle, in life and in death, with the Valkyries offering drinking horns full of beer to the slain warriors in Odin's hall.
This strong and dark roasted Dark Brown Ale is hopped with Cascade.

Copenhagen 23/10 2020. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. Boiling orange sea with viking ships and a stylized viking head in black. They sure do like vikings.
Pours murky maroon with a small off-white head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet nutty odor mingling with a bit of sour grains and dairy products. Chocolate, toffee and nuts. Butter. Hints of brown sugar and burnt malts.
Medium strong carbonation. Medium thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a lighter sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sourish. Lingers for a bit. Finish is semi-dry.
A bit unbalanced and weirdly sweet. More unusual than terrible.
