Westcoast is a tribute to the beautiful and at the same time harsh west coast of Jutland. The brewmaster was born and raised in Hvide Sande, and the idea was to make a beer with local ingredients and the ship on the label even belonged to the brewmaster's father. The beer is infused with rose hips and horsetail, which are carefully picked in the dunes by the North Sea. The specially roasted malt and rosehip shells give the beer a beautiful, orange/golden red color.
The rose hips and horsetail also help to give the beer sweetness and together with the bitterness from the hops, this is a wonderfully fresh and complex Pale/Red Ale.

Copenhagen 23/6 2019. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Photo of a Trawler on the label ensuring that I understand it is the Danish West-coast - and not the American that the beer is named after.
Pours murky, dark amber with a medium-sized white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is sweet and herbal. Seems to be dominated by a solid Malt base. Caramel, cough drops, butter. Light herbal notes - might be the Rose hips peeking in.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly sweet followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with hints of something burnt. Lingers for a bit.
A bit too herbal my taste buds. But they did warn me on the label.
