Appearance: With a gentle pour, Grapefruit IPA sports a massive, somewhat coarse and very persistent snow-white head. The body is a hazy golden orange, with modest sediment; massive clumps of bubbles decorate the glass wall, beneath the surface. The lacing is finely-beaded and resembles a coarse mesh.
Aroma: True to its name, a modest sniff summons a massive wave of grapefruit rind, as well as notes of the juice. There are also pine hops, though these are somewhat restrained, compared to other examples of the style I have tried. Finally, there are restrained, probably involuntarily, notes of bread malt.
Taste: On tasting, there is a strong wave of citrus hops, with orange notes far more discernable than in the aroma. With the orange hops, there is a flourish of mild sweetness, a pleasant compliment to the orange notes. The bread malt flavors, while present, are quite restrained. Later in the taste, the more bitter aspects of the hops are on display, with prominent pine tar and some grapefruit rind. Nevertheless, the presence of juicy orange rind notes remains throughout the taste, though more subdued than at the open. The finish is dominated by pine tar hops, which clear away the sweetness. Finishes with a lingering, mild herbal bitterness.
Mouth feel: Very soft and full, with slight delicate carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: This is a nice example of a style that often suffers from heavy-handed application of hops, in my humble opinion. I found this to be a well-balanced drinkable example, especially in light of the fact that I am not typically a fan of high IBUs. Well done.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde chalice.

Grapefruit IPA has a very thick, spongy, off-white head and a hazy, sediment-filled orange appearance, with heavy lacing. The aroma is pungent, oddly yeasty, with possible grapefruit. The flavor has some tartness, low bitterness, and white bread crust. Grapefruit IPA has a medium body and a dry finish.

Poured from a can. Golden to orangish in color with a good sized head and lacing. Smells of citrus, orange more than grapefruit oddly enough. Flavors of pine, citrus and hops. Not getting a whole lot of grapefruit. Good but missing what it says it is.

From the can in the 2022 Aldi Bier Advent Calendar, it pours a hazy orange-amber color with a nice off-white head that slowly reduces as you enjoy it. Some lacing evident. The nose gets a citrusy, grapefruit dose in the nose, followed by a light, slightly watery feeling, lightly grapefruity brew.
