Pours dark. Tan foam. PB aroma. Smokey peanut butter body. Sweet chocolate finish. Bold flavors. Well balanced. Surprisingly delicious.

Appearance: A massive, dense and very persistent tan head surmounts an opaque dark mahogany body. At the narrow point of the glass, some faint dark amber highlights are visible before strong light. Belgian-style lacing adorns the glass wall.
Aroma: A very pronounced aroma of peanut butter cups dominates the aroma. There are notes of rustic dark bread, as well. More than peanut butter cups the aroma is reminiscent of peanut butter and chocolate syrup.
Taste: The taste begins with milk chocolate and bitter cocoa, as the taste progresses, the peanut butter begins to present. As these flavors meld, the result is a taste similar to a dark chocolate peanut butter cup. Late in the taste, there is a surge of herbal and metallic bitterness, which bring the sweetness to a close. The finish has a lingering note of herbal bitterness against a backdrop of fading peanut butter and chocolate.
Mouth feel: Smooth and full, very pleasant, with just a hint of sharp carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Really nice, an excellent dessert beer, I would like to try this with a rich chocolate cake.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.

Peanut Butter Porter has a very thick, spongy beige head, but it recedes, quickly. The appearance is dark brown, with no lacing. The aroma is of strong peanut butter powder and some dark bread crust. Taste is of some peanut butter, more dark malt, and a building, somewhat unpleasant bitterness that I have encountered in other peanut butter porters. The body is medium, and Peanut Butter Porter finishes midway dry.

From the can in the 2022 Aldi Bier Advent Calendar, it pours a dark brown color with a nice bubbly light brown head that soon diminishes to a thin layer. The nose gets a dose of peanut butter over malt. The taste follows nose, it tastes of sweet peanut butter with some bitterness.
