Appearance: Clear, light amber in color, with finely-beaded cloud head, offering very good retention. Masses of fat bubbles cling to the glass wall, just below the surface, while profuse streams of fine carbonation race to the surface. Irregular patchy lacing adorns the glass wall.
Aroma: The aroma offers a broad brush of rustic brown bread, toasted malt, caramel, and mild, grassy hops.
Taste: The taste opens with burnt caramel and toasted malt, soon after, there is a fleeting presence of lightly-sweet caramel. later in the taste, there is an earthy and astringent tea-like note. The finish is dry, with a moderate, lingering medicinal bitterness.
Mouth feel: Full, smooth and vey pleasant, with delicate carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Very nice and quite drinkable, with an ABV of just 4.5%, it would be a pleasant session beer.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.

Irish Style Red Ale has a thick, ivory head and a somewhat hazy, rust-red appearance, with powdery sediment. A descending cloud is seen, following the "swish & pour". There is heavy lacing. The aroma is of tea tannins, cream, and white bread crust. It has a similar flavor, with mild bitterness. Irish Style Red Ale has a medium body and a slick mouthfeel. The finish is dry.

From the can in the 2022 and 2023 Aldi Advent Calendar, it pours a slight reddish amber color with a modest off-white head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets a bready malt with some notes of caramel. The mouth an initial hit of bitter followed by a caramel malt flavor.
