Appearance: Deep copper red in color, with a large and somewhat coarse off-white head, with good retention. Profuse streams of minute bubbles race to the surface, while clumps of large examples cling to the glass wall beneath the surface. A thick, unbroken sheet of lacing coats the glass wall.
Aroma: The aroma offers a touch of char, as well as notes of dark caramel, oak, and a hint of vanilla.
Taste: The taste opens with some moderate oak, a note that I associate with Scotch Whisky, and truth be told, vanilla wafers. As the taste progresses the oak and Scotch Whisky notes intensify a bit. Finishes with a lingering note of mild oak.
Mouth feel: Smooth and full, very full and soft, with a gentle note of carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A pleasing example of the style, that seems a bit more traditional, notably a bit drier and less sweet than many examples I have encountered.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a Lan Fin du Monde tulip.

Scottish Style Ale has a very thick, spongy, beige head and a translucent rust-red, bubbly appearance, with noticeable sediment chunks and some lacing. The aroma is of vanilla and brown bread crust. The flavor is similar, with low bitterness and moderate sweetness. Scottish Style Ale has a medium body and a dry finish.

From the can in both the 2022 and 2023 Aldi Advent Calendar, it pours a clear light brown color with a modest just off white head that reduces to a thin layer. Lacing. The nose gets a dose of caramel and roasted malts. The mouth, the same, notes of burnt caramel come through as well.

Poured from a can. Caramel in color with a tan head. Smells of caramel and toffee. Flavors are caramel, toffee, an earthy spice and very slight alcohol hint. Comes together nicely.
