Appearance: A slightly hazy golden orange body sports a massive coarse white head with excellent retention. Fat bubbles line most of the glass wall beneath the surface, while minute bubbles rise lazily to the surface in clouds. The lacing is Belgian-like.
Aroma: Strong notes of white bread vie with juicy pine and herbal hops, which present strongly but manage not to seem overpowering.
Taste: Opens with bready malt and a little caramel malt, which is quickly subsumed by a massive wave of pine and herbal hops. These completely dominate the taste to the close, but as with the aroma, somehow manage to seem somewhat balanced. Herbal and pine hop bitterness linger on, well past the end of the taste.
Mouth feel: Very soft and full, with soft, delicate carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A very well-crafted example that, while abundant with hops, manages to maintain a drinkable balance.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip

West Coast IPA has a frothy, thick, off-white head and a translucent orange appearance, with bubbles and heavy lacing. The aroma is of pungent, yeasty bread crust and resinous hot oils, with marmalade. The flavor is similar, with strong bitterness. West Coast IPA has a medium body and a dry finish.

From the stylish can in the 2022 and 2023 Aldi Advent Calendar, it pours a clear golden color with a nice white head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets a slightly piney scent. The mouth gets a lightly bitter brew, pleasant but not strongly bitter, which is not what I expect from a West Coast IPA. Pleasant taste, though.
