Appearance: Pours a vibrant, slightly hazy golden orange, with an exuberant, finely-beaded white head with good retention. Large patches of fat bubbles cling to the glass wall beneath the surface, while small bubbles race to the surface in profuse streams, Classic Belgian-style lacing adorns the glass wall.
Aroma: Bready malt notes and herbal hops vie with tart cherries.
Taste: On tasting, there is a wave of dry, tart cherry, much more than the aroma would suggest, though it is quite pleasant. There is also a decent bread malt flavor, though this is understated in comparison to the cherries. The finish is mildly sweet, with a lingering and dry cherry presence.
Mouth feel: Soft and full, with gentle carbonation and a dry note.
Drinkability/notes: A very pleasant example, which seems a more of a summer or autumnal selection, instead of a choice for an Advent calendar. Still, it should inspire no regrets.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve ounce aluminum can, served in a la Fin du Monde tulip.

From the can in the 2023 Aldi Advent Calendar, it pours a slightly hazy slightly pink amber color with a modest, soon diminishing white head. The scent is medicinal and slightly cherry. The taste follows with a slightly bitter, slightly cherry malt flavor.

Cherry Kolsch has a thin, egg-shell colored head, a clear, orange appearance (under strong light), bubbles, and no lacing. The aroma is of slight cherry and some white bread. The flavor is of yeasty bread and cherry. Cherry Kolsch has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish. It is wine like. RJT
