Pleasantly surprised by this tasty treat from Aldi! Nice amber color and delightfully crisp. Great with a sandwich on a summer's day! I'll add that I'm pretty picky. I hope Aldi keeps this one in stock as I will be a repeat buyer.

12 ounce can into willi becher glass, best before 2/17/2027, 1 year can dating? Pours crystal clear deep golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lasts. Nice Dense spotty soapy lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, cedar, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted bread, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Medium-high pine, citrus rind, woody, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Lingering resin dryness with minimal lingering hop astringency. Mild warmth of 5.6%. Run of the mill Chinook and Fuggles tasting pale, and very enjoyable.

I was pleasantly surprised. reminiscent of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. But not nearly as good. A bit more bitter than expected and less citrus than expected.

My wife bought this for me at Aldi. Funny thing is the private label coffee she purchased at Aldi also was about as good as this "beer".

This beer took me back to high school where there times out of complete desperation I would reach into the hot trunk of my car and grab a Milwaukees Best that had been sitting back there for weeks. Shuteye Peak tasted almost as good as that hot Milwaukee Best that had been rolling around in my hot trunk for weeks. Almost as good....

I don't know where to start with this one but I can say I was only able to drink 1/2 of one of these abominations. The other 11 that came in the 12-pack were given to my local homeless fellows and I know wonder if they will even want to talk to me the next time I see them. I seriously doubt they liked Shuteye Peak either.

This beer comes across as something that is probably made with the cheapest incredients possible with as many shortcuts in the brewing process as you could take. I imagine instead of a nice grain bill of various varietys of malted barley, this one is loaded up with rice and corn. Hops? I wonder what kind they use in this beer. Whatever variety is used, I am sure it is only in trace amounts.

Color? I bet coloring is added to the brew. Corn and/or rice don't ad much if any color on their own.

Taste? Zero redeeming qualities. Just terrible. For the price paid for this 12-pack one would not have to try hard to not be able to find something on sale at their local grocery store. I would almost bet every single beer at my local grocery store is better than this. That is no exageration.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste even a penny on this. No matter how cheap Aldi sells this for it isn't worth the price. Hell, it isn't even worth it if it were free.

Lastly, to those who rated with a 4+ (there are even 5's here) maybe should think about leaving reviews here. Rating beer cannot be one of your strengths.

LOOK: Pours a light clear amber color with a loose, frothy cream colored head. Retention isn't bad and lasted almost 5 minutes before gone while decent side glass lace remained. Looks moderately inviting.
AROMA: Hmm, not sure I am picking up any aroma I can relate to a poured beer. Cereal and some esters I would relate to a chemical or mineral. Nothing inviting in the aroma.
TASTE: There is some sweetness with a little caramel flavor but nothing here to refresh or satisfy.
Has a drying finish, and for me a dying finish as I won't ever have another.

Just like Summit Pale Ale from a similar latitude, this beer is the American blue-collar workers dream come true. Tastes like a home-brew without all the home-brewing. Inexpensive, malty, and super-fresh. Factoring for price, this is a 5-star beer. Anyone who says otherwise could NOT beat me in a fight.

Budget Aldi house brand pale ale. Pours a hazy yellow amber. Toasted grain and faint floral hop aroma. Tastes pretty good, solid balance between malt sweetness and fruity hops with mild bitterness. Smooth and medium bodied. A fine crushable pale ale, recommended. I'd buy this again, especially since the 12 pack is cheaper than my usual 4 pack purchase.

Lets see what the hype is all about with this Aldi find!

Initial presentation was standard for most high-level APA's. The pour was decadent, leading to a nice frothy layer of foam into my 12 oz stein. Very nice, worthy of that sub 4.0 rating.

Smell - effervescent hops - not sure the type but piney, floral notes.

Taste - This was the dealbreaker for me, and I hate being critical of value based bottom barrel brewers. Up front was very crisp and refreshing, except everything on the back end tasted like Yuengling malts and maltodextrin. Basically a Pale Lager, and we're talking very pale adjunct malts that completely throw off the back end flavor profile. This was almost a drain pour for me.

Feel - The 5.6% is definitely there, along with the medium bodied farce this APA attempts to conjur up is a solid miss. I completely understand where the Shut-Eye name came from. The sugary by-product adjuncts will put you in sleepy-time, right away.

Nice try, Aldi.

I'm impressed. It's chunky like a good microbrew and fresh, not over filtered. This is my first time seeing it at Aldi's. Would definitely go back to it.

Their IPA is a touch too filtered for me, where as this one is still soggy and murky and good.

Solid brew at fair Aldi's price.

Update: 2nd 12 pack a week later. It's kind of a new go-to. Very satisfied. Easy drinkin, but not too light. Nice and hoppy.

Thumbs Up.

Rich amber color, but head is a bit thin and recedes quickly. Mild piney aroma. Flavor is simple but balanced. Mouth feel is light. Call it a light session ale. I'm not buying the 5.6% ABV printed on the can -- I'd estimate more like 4.6%.

Pours very clear and slight copper in color. Head is tan and fluffy, sticks around a bit after falling.

Smalls of nice malt, a little salt, very subtle hop character. Smells fresh.

Taste is a bit grainy, maybe a bit of cardboard that I always get in a not so fresh sierra Nevada pale ale. Subtle flavor of hops and caramel. Finish is a lingering bitterness that is always subtle but sticks around.

As I'm working through this beer, it really seems to me that this is more of a British pale ale than an American pale ale. I'll look up their website later. When I think of this as British, I enjoy it a lot more. There is a bit of diacetal and metallic flavor, the malt is as balanced as the hops. A little fruitiness from the yeast/fermentation.

Overall, not what I expected, but I'll happily drink them and may buy again if I see them at Aldi's for $15 / 12pk.
