Handsome red brown brew with abundant foam in the Maredsous goblet. Quite lush and sudsy on the tongue. Some flavors of roasted grain with a dark tang. Maybe it's mellower than a Schwartzbier, but the malt is a distinct flavor here. Grainy and herbal nose. Just a bit of bitterness with more herbal darkness in the aftertaste.
This is only my second "Czech-Style Dark Lager" so I won't presume that it's a good example of the style, but certainly a drinkable and pleasant dark brew. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Community Co-op. "Batch No.7"

Served is 16oz mug. Poured a clean, clear, dark brown color with a slight reddish tint around the edges. There was over a two inch mountain of off-white head that had long-lasting retention and moderate lacing.
The aroma had rich, deep malts, with just a hint of lightly floral hops.
Same on the tongue, grain dominated for sure, but there was a bit of astringency at the back that built up over the pint.
The body was smooth and even, with a medium finish.
Drinkability was good, but that astringency got to distracting by the end.
Overall, a good beer that I recommend, but maybe get a taster to see if that sharpness is still there.
