This wintry warming IPA uses Alberta grains and Ontario-grown Centennial and Cascade hops from our friends at Highland Hopyard to create a 100% Canadian hoppy beer experience.

Positioned in a glass turret with two 50-inch machine guns on top of the aircraft, Johnny Lake was the Mid-Upper Gunner on Lancaster ED976. Both he and Lint Stephenson, the Tailgunner, were vulnerable to enemy fire and freezing temperatures. Responsible to defend the aircraft, each gunner would instruct the pilot, Red McGil on evasive maneuvers, while giving the enemy What For!

Johnny Lake gave his life during the Second World War; he was 21 years old. He and so many other men and women of this generation fought for freedom, safety, and the future prosperity of the world.

473ml can poured into tulip.

Pours a clear golden orange with two fingers of off-white head that leaves some sudsy lace as it recedes.

Smells of grapefruit flesh, orange rind, peach cobbler, breakfast biscuits, honeyed lemon and dank piney hops.

Tastes of more bitter citrus, red grapefruit and orange peel, more juicy peach with brown sugar and baked dough, biscuity caramel malt and more sappy pine bitters.

Feels soft and thick and fluffy. Medium bodied with frothy carbonation. Finishes chewy.

Verdict: Highly recommended. I won't take part in the debate between East and West coast IPAs, but this one is really good.

Appearance - Pours a golden copper with three fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - piney, earthy, leafy, citrus and weedy hops, grapefruit and citrus peel, pine resin, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.

Taste - bold earthy, leafy, weedy, piney, and citrus hops upfront. The grapefruit and citrus peel follow suit alongside the pine resin. The bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops, citrus and pine resin lingering.

Overall - A bold and flavourful IPA that is quite nice. I like how this is all Canadian brew showcasing hops from Ontario. Another fantastic brew from this brewery.

Canned Dec 1/2020, consumed Jan 1/2021.
Mildly hazy golden orange pour with 2 good fingers of off white, puffy, foamy head.
Aroma strikes with caramel malts, citrus and piney hops and a floral character.
Tastes of sweet grainy caramel malt, some ripe orange, grapefruit and a building resinous hop with pine notes - bitterness builds nicely but never overpowers.
Medium mouthfeel - the carbonation is moderate at best, but the bittersweetness hangs nicely on the palate. A bit of a delicious dance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness.
