Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a huge, foamy head and visible carbonation, as well as thick tufts of lacing clinging to the inside of the glass. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus and tropical hops, with grapefruit and papaya standing out, as well as just a hint of pine. Taste is a good balance of sweet'ish biscuity malt and bitter and somewhat resinous hops, with citrus/tropical notes of grapefruit, tangerine pineapple and papaya, as well as a hint of pine. Finishes bone-dry, with a medium/strong bitterness and some grapefruit and pineapple lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation.
Although there is a bit of initial malt sweetness to this, it certainly turns absolutely bone-dry and rather bitter in the finish, with quite lively carbonation as well, making for a fine example of the style, which also boasts some rather nice citrus and tropical hop notes, while the bitterness is quite lingering. I can't say that I really bemoan the fact that the Brut IPA never took off, but I still thought that this was rather enjoyable for what it is.
