This West Coast IPA is true to style. Crisp, but with massive bitterness and a fruity direction. Do not be fooled by its apparent lightness.

Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus, tropical hops, with hints of herbal accents coming through as well. Taste is a great balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and fruity, bitter, slightly herbal and resinous hops, with citrus and lighter tropical notes of grapefruit and mango, as well as hints of pine. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a nice West Coast IPA that is heavy on the quite zesty citrus notes, with a good bitterness in the finish, but could do with a bit more of a caramel malt backbone and resinous pine for my personal taste. I will admit that that caramel malt backbone is probably more of an East Coast quality and this does make for a rather enjoyable West Coast example of the style overall, although it still needs a bit more pine in my opinion. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this and am thankful for every WC/EC IPA that I can manage to get my hands on.
