A southern take on the more traditional German Berliner Weiss, this “Florida” Weiss is a kettle sour with fresh mangoes and passionfruit. The lemony bright sourness comes from lactic acid produced during fermentation with no further sweetening to keep it very tart and refreshing. In 1884 Rev. Elbridge Gale cultivated the first surviving mango tree in all of South Florida. His efforts sparked a mango fever and Gale was so enamored with the fruit that he named the area “Mangonia”. This variety later became the Haden Mango. Now, nearly 80% of all the world's commercial mangoes can be traced back to this original Mulgoba tree.
