Served in a flared pokal at the Spirit Water taproom.
Continuing on with the root beer selections (there are 4, kids!), this one's got some butterscotch involved, apparently. It pours a clear midnight mahogany topped by a short-lived kiss of dirty white froth. The nose favors the root beer angle of things, heavy on the molasses and spices, with a vague caramel-ness creeping in from time to time. The taste, for a lack of any better way of putting it, reminds me of having a Werther's Original sitting on my tongue while I take a swig of some Barq's or Dad's or Dog 'n' Suds. Straight up. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slickly fluid feel. Overall, the butterscotch is an interesting and tasty enhancement to the already damn fine root beer, though my preference may yet lie with the un-butterscotch-ed version. Only time will tell.
