Served in a fluted pokal at the Spirit Water taproom.
That's right, there's more in the way of root beer flowing here! This one pours a clear midnight sienna topped by a minor wisp of dirty beige suds. The nose comprises sweet root beer, vague caramel syrup, and a touch of extra vanilla for good measure. The taste brings in more of the same, the stated apple wood and white oak coming through a bit as a surprisingly subtle vein of sweet woodiness. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slickly fluid feel. Overall, though I wouldn't necessarily say it's an improvement on the base root beer per se, it's a highly enjoyable variant that provides an extra little bit of flavor for those looking for something beyond the usual boozy root beer.
