16 fl oz. can, no date. Entirely new to me; my first beer from Young Blood Brewing Co., and strangely enough, I'm the one who had to add this beer to the database. Brewed in Madison, Wisconsin. "Hazy Pale Ale double dry-hopped with Riwaka" Sounds interesting.
A: As we all knew already, "Hazy Pale Ale" is just a hipster moniker for "Hazy IPA" bro. It pours suuuper juicy, cloudy, 'hazy'. Bro. Small finger of frothy white head, but this beer is cold as fuck, so we'll see how she fares after it warms a bit.
S: Riwaka has always been an interesting hop in my experience. It gives off a super dirty, earthy, herbal vibe. Soapy, at times, but this could be because of the excessive dry-hopping.
T: Taste follows, super creamy, herbal, earthy, flowery. It has that floral character that I so love and find in Mosaic hops, but it has almost an accompanying dirt like flavor to it. It's pretty good, although maybe dry-hopped a bit more than I'd care for, especially if we're going to be calling this a "pale ale"..
F: Smooth, creamy, pillowy. Carbonation is ok, but slightly filling / bloating. Definitely feels heavier than 5.2% because of the weight of the beer body. Not terribly crushable, but good nonetheless.
Overall, it's ok. I enjoyed it, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that it tastes pretty average, despite the usage of some interesting hops. Look forward to trying more from this brewery.
