Our most popular kettle sour finally makes its long-awaited return. ‘Double Hearts’ starts as a wheat ale base that we kettle sour for 48 hours with lactobacillus before being fermented with over 50 gallons of red raspberry purée. Pouring a thick reddish-pink color this tart and fruity smoothie-like ale is truly a double-whammy of sour and raspberry!

On tap at the Local Boys tap room in Purdy, WA, looks dreamy in the glass, dense pale and milky reddish-pink, with a creamy pill-white 1 finger head, good retention. Beer-tender told me it was very tart, but I’d say it was solid but not extreme; it had a really delightful undercurrent of rich and slightly sweet raspberry, along with a very substantial creamy wheat malt bill that would account, I guess, for the higher abv. First beer from this brewery, and I enjoyed this one a lot. Not super complex, but a great use of raspberry.
