330 ml. bottle, pours a huge off-white head that fades slowly leaving a thin lace. Dark colors with reddish reflections to the light. All the rest is faint in this beer, smell of caramel, raisins and coffee, but have to look hard for them, and the same goes for the taste, which is the same of smell with some hints of chocolate. Light body, watery, I'd said. Drinkable, but nothing that makes you want to taste another one.

Appearance : a brown redish color, with tan foamy head.
Smell : malty, roasted and caramel aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : sweet malty flavours with notes of caramel.
Drinkability : an average beer in the style Dunkel Lager.

Dark reddish brown pour with quickly fading head and almost no lacing. Nice toasty nose with hints of metal and caramel. Great complex, well balanced taste. Nice malty base with hints of coffee, brown sugar, and caramel without being too sweet. Love that touch of metal that's present in a lot of German beers. Very roasty, toasted flavor makes this highly drinkable. I think this beer has been put in the wrong category. I believe it should be in the Munich Dunkel vice the Altbier. Either way this is one of the best Dunkels I've ever had. Top notch!

The beer/brewery name, Schlappe-seppel, translates to something like "the limping boy"...hmm...

Pours a reddish rust color, good clarity for as dark as it is, no haziness whatsoever. Head is off-white and creamy, pocked with various-sized bubbles that give it a surface-of-the-moon sort of look.

Toffee, black tea, burnt grain, mineral and very faint raisin in the nose.

Toasty flavor overall. Some charred grain; mineral/earth; an almost metallic bitterness; faint cocoa; watered-down anise in the background. Malty, obviously, but a more serious/stiff maltiness as opposed to a welcoming/dessert-like maltiness. Remarkably dry. Almost coarse finish, in terms of its bitter/metallic character.

Fairly aggressive carbonation, but with an airy enough body and a decent slickness.

Goes down without any glaring faults, but didn't blow me away. Pretty solid, and I'm kind of glad it didn't completely wow me, because chances are I'll never meet this obscurity again...

Almost a black colour with a ruby shine and a diminishing off-white foamy head. Toasted malty aroma with dense notes of chocolate and traces of hops. Dry malty, slightly papery taste, light to medium body, and smooth carbonation. Dry and medium bitter finish with a creamy, off-white head that leaves pretty laces. Lightly roasted, malty nose had me salivating before the first sip. An honorable effort.
