L- Quite dark chestnut brown. Tried to pour clean but a couple of socking big lumps of sediment decided to join mid-pour too. 2cm cream coloured tight foamy head, holds well.
S- Quite a deep malty nose.
T- Hoppy-bright. Under-powered vs what the small suggested. It seems to have less body and more hops that I am used to in a Bock.
F- Notably hoppy-bright. Hop profile is more trad than contemporary (a saving grace).
O- Not what I was expecting, you might suggest it's a hipstered Bock - more bright hops, less ABV% and less malty body.
5% BBE: 03/2024 330ml bottle £3.59 Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge
p.s. Now having rated/reviewed the beer I'm reading the lable: 'A modern take on a classic style'. Hmmm, but I really don't see the Bock roots here...
