Dunkel, meaning dark in German, features Munich malt which presents flavors of light caramel, honey, and bread. Ours is properly balanced with classic floral and earthy noble hops that aid in drying the initial sweetness out, to promote high drinkability. At an easy 5% abv, this lager is sure to satisfy your palate glass after glass

Tones of medium brown for the cloudy body, tan head. Dark nuts and pumpernickel lead the nose, German yeast with dried date skins and toasted caramel come in next. Taste is much the same plus some earth and a finish of bread dough added. Feel is higher in carbonation, light but not thin, yeast sneaky takes over with hop kiss. Good all around, goes down easy with plenty of flavor, though perhaps not the deepest feel

16 ounce can into a pilsner glass. Canned 10/17/23, had 12/4/23.

Pours a fairly clear caramel color, with a two inch foamy head with good retention and some foamy lacing. Active carbonation. Aromas of caramel, malt, dark bread, light honey. Smells floral. Flavors of caramel, dark bread, malt, light chocolate. Tastes floral and a little spicy. Smooth, a good- but a touch thinner lighter body, well carbonated.

Overall, it’s a solid example of the style. Lots of caramel and dark bread. Certainly worth a purchase.

Pours a clear rich brown color with a dense oatmeal colored head that provides ringlets of lacing as you drink the beer. Beautiful dunkel. The nose features bready notes, with some roasty malts and a nice bit of honey. This is gonna be good.

My opinion after a couple of deep whiffs is confirmed - this is really good, bordering on fantastic. It is so easy drinking and flavorful, with rich bread and honey flavors, balanced by roasty malts at the back of the palate. Wow.

The mouthfeel is clean and crisp, as expected. Such a pleasure to drink on a beautiful late fall evening.

Can. Brown maple-amber color with a good amount of foam upon aggressive pour. This beer is for fall season all the way: Nutmeg, malty, bready, chocolatey... super clean finish and easy going down.

Appearance - The was copper brown in color with a white-ish head topping the glass.

Smell - The roasted caramelized malts radiated from the nose with hints of dryness.

Taste - The profile had nicely spiced dark wheat. It brought to mind dark European bread. The roasted mounds continued to a slightly dry finish.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation was appropriate for the style, brushing away excess sweetness for the dry finish.

Overall - A well-made Dunkel is always a treat.

From the can: This naturally carbonated lager is rooted in family tradition. Brewed like our ancestors did in 19th century Krakow.

Just sayin', but Krakow is a long trek from Munich.

16 ounce can packaged on 10.10.2022, poured into my tall Becher.

L -- Clear, deep copper with a dense and long-lasting cream colored head. Somewhat hazy in final pour -- expected if "naturally carbonated."

S -- Light doughy breadiness and DMS with a touch of nuttiness and some light herbal hops.

T -- Light breadiness up front that folds into a husky, grainy character. There's a touch of caramel fighting through and somewhat tart, citrus hoppiness back. Finish is somewhat astringent and the aftertaste carries the same with some breadiness and citrus fighting through and earthy bitterness right at the end.

M -- Body is light-medium with a crisp to dry mouthfeel.

O -- While not leaning to roasty, as some breweries tend to with a Dunkel, there's no real good melanoidin character in this double-decocted beer -- as I remember (longingly) in all the Dunkels I sampled in Bavaria.

The body is also a little thin to be expected and the huskiness is distracting.

I have the feeling this isn't an all Munich malt beer -- or it didn't use imported German malts in entirety, if at all.

Released October 2022; drank on draft @ Hopleaf on 11/10/22.

Mostly see-through orange/brown appearance.

Small tan head; strong lacing.

Caramel, roasted acorn & faint brown sugar notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Acorn, mild caramel & faint brown sugar flavors.

A touch sweet, if anything, but a fine dunkel none the less.

Tawny amber, bright clarity, ample foam with a honeycomb pattern throughout. Long lasting head that leaves tons of sticky lacing around the glass.

Nutty malt aroma, husked grains, a bit yeasty.

Malt forward, dark bread crusts, dry and toasty. Supple feel, light to medium bodied, low carb level, mild astringent bite. Overall it’s tasty and easy drinking.

Pours a crystal clear amber color. Three to four finger off-white head forms on the beer before dissipating. Head retention is moderate.

Aroma has notes of Sweet biscuits, brown bread, some light nutty malts, with some light honey-like sweetness.

Taste follows the nose with notes of brown bread, biscuit, sweet honey, some spicy hops on the back end.

Feel is light, crisp, easy drinking. Smooth with moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

Overall a lovely dunkel - very delicious.

Had this on tap at the brewery. I liked the look on this one, redish brown with a nice big white head. Nice and malty but still very smooth. Very balanced with a nice bready aroma and great balance.
