probably more rightly in that international style pale category space, but we dont have that here on BA. this is a new zealand pale they call it, just referring to the hop selection i reckon, super light and drinkable, easily the best of the hoppy beers i had in here, refreshing, summery even if premature in terms of the weather, and pleasantly and distinctively hopped, well done. unfiltered looking but still very light, with a short white head from the tap and a pale golden color. the nose is the best feature here, an obviously southern hemisphere profile with hints of sweet green melon, ripe kiwi fruit, floral honey, and springy white wine, a little grain sweetness in with it, and an inconsequential neutral fermentation profile to me, a little resinous, minimally bitter it seems. the flavor isnt quite as peppy and fruity as it smells, a little more pale malt interference, but the hops are fresh, relatively delicately dosed for a pale ale, and distinct to me, with white grape, white peace, gooseberry, and elderflower essences in the mix, good balance, nothing forced, and this drinks really light on the palate, simple in a good way, herbal as it sits, the hops linger a little even though this ends dry, unique complexion from start to finish, pretty well done on the whole. i could see this popping with a double dry hop of the same varietals, but also i like its mellow nature now. cool recipe, nice use of these hops!
