If there's no vacation plans in your future, at least the tastebuds can take that tropical island trip. Woven Water piles generous amounts of pineapple, mango and guava onto a basic kettle soured ale for a tropical cocktail flavor with a tantalizing tangy kick.
Matte, pastel and opaque, their Fusion Series, Pineapple Guava Mango pours patiently with deep golden, amber and peach hues. With a scant trace of bubbles, the scent of fruit puree and fruit musk fill the nose with a radiant, concentced and macerated perfume. Almost achingly sweet, the early palate is chocked full of cereal, honey, pie filling and fruit glaze.
As the heavy sweetness coats the tongue, the boldness of fruit flavor continue its uptick. Underlying sourness of lemon, lime, gooseberry, crabapple and passionfruit fuse seamlessly with the tropical fruit additions for a sour jammy character with a cidery and winey kick. Trailing into a sweet-tart character, the late palate is all about the tang and the juice.
Heavy bodied for sour ale, this smoothie-styled ale is rich, lush and jam packed full of fruit flavor that extends well into a savory, exotic, tangy and sweet aftertaste, seemingly of alcoholic sorbet.
