Pours a dark, opaque color; nice head, frothy and tan, long lasting; sparse, splotchy flecks of foam inside the glass. Excellent aroma; roasted grains and dark chocolate; decadently sweet; a hint of coconut. The taste exudes milk chocolate with a minor boozy quality; coconut and vanilla notes; slight dose of coffee bitterness. Heavy, silky body; smooth and slippery on the palate.
The taste and mouthfeel really make this beer exceptional. It is heavy on the chocolatey sweetness yet is nicely balanced with notes of vanilla and coffee in the background. Rich and decadent, a real pleasure to sip.
ABV: 8% (brewery web site); pouring temperature: 52 °F; canning info: n/a

Poured at 54°. Fizzy dark brown head with a few rocks; poor cap retention; solid ring briefly; no lace nor legs; black with ruby edges. Nose is sweet chocolate and coconut; a little coffee as beer warmed. Sweet chocolate entry; coconut; a little bitterness from the coffee, but not much coffee flavor. Silky smooth feel; medium body; no warmth from 9%abv; light carbonation. Overall, too sweet, on the verge of cloying; the coffee is masked by the chocolate and coconut flavors.
