Black with three fingers of creamy-looking dark khaki head. Good retention and thick lacing.
Vanilla and coffee in the nose with some light roast and hints of almond and bourbon.
Moderately roasty tasting with similarly-moderate coffee and a good layer of vanilla throughout. Again, hints of almond and bourbon behind. It has a very dry, “brown” character. I keep wanting to say it has a shoe leather quality, but that’s not quite right; it sort of reminds me of that acerbic bitter taste found in peanut skins.
Creamy and slick feeling with low carbonation.
Well made for what it is. I think I might have enjoyed it more with stronger coffee and/or chocolate additions.
