My interpretation of a traditional India Pale Ale, with a pleasant dose of bitterness and a fresh, fruity taste. Inspiring and exotic. Surprises with citrus notes and floral nuances and finishes with hints of wild honey and caramelized malt.

Copenhagen 2/7 2016. 75 cl bottle from Meny, Bryggervangen, Kbh. Ø. Big bottle with a lot of gold and a warm orange color.
Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as a thin layer of foam stretching to cover the surface f the ber. Substantial lacing on the side of the glass.
Aroma is a bit weak for this kind of beer. But nice enough. Exotic fruit, citric notes and a little sweet caramel.
Medium strong carbonation and a thick palate. Lightly tingling texture.
Flavor has a pronounced sweetness followed by a nice medium strong bitterness.
A bit on the sweet side - but if you are not afraid of caries it is certainly more than drinkable.

Amber hazy color, a good off-white head. Rich aroma of citrus fruits and honey. The taste is malty , and fruity with notes of hop. Full-bodied, medium carbonated. Honey sweetness in aftertaste

From the large, just out of date, bottle, it pours a slightly hazy amber color with a nice off-white head that slowly reduces to a nice layer. In the nose, scent is pleasant, with notes of caramel, pine, and fruit, possibly some citrus. The mouth gets some hop bitterness and caramel over a solid malt base. .

Pours a clear, pale amber coloration with a large, fluffy head and visible carbonation. Smell is dominated by sweet biscuity, caramel malt and honey, with some floral hops and just a hint of citrus and pine also coming through. Taste follows the nose, with a decent balance of sweet, caramel malt, honey and some quite floral, very slightly resinous hops, with somewhat faint accents of grapefruit and and pine and a distinct bitterness developing in the finish. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some caramel malt and honey lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation.
A decent English IPA if you prefer this style on the sweet and malty side, Not quite syrupy, but definitely too sweet for my personal taste. with the hops also failing to really make a distinct impression. There's some floral character here, as well as a good bitterness that just about manages to balance out the sweet malts, but I would have wished for some sharper citrus and pine notes, which are barely noticeable here. This may well be due to age or perhaps it's simply not all that intensely hopped, being an English rather than an American IPA, hard to tell with Maisel making a great big secret of their best-by dates.

Dark, veiled orange; off-white foam, not too elegant.
Not too much in the smell. Melon, peach, maybe leetchee.
In the taste a lot of caramel, malt and sweetness. Some not too elegant bitterness, quickly covered by the sweetness of caramel and honey.

Golden amber body; lots of fine carbonation; thick, frothy, sculpted head. Bread crust aroma infused with a bit fruitiness; slight grassy presence. Nice malt flavor; a bit of caramel; a touch of esters; thoroughly hopped hop bitterness throughout the taste; a bit boozy. Heavy body; heavy sweetness (but not cloyingly so).
This is a solid, malt-forward IPA and, to me, more inline with being an English IPA (it's described as an American IPA as of this review). It has the strong malt malt; a healthy dosage of bitterness, and a pronounced (but not overbearing) presence of alcohol. A fine rendering of a classic beer style.

Since moving to far-east Russia it has become very hard for me to find IPA's let alone a good one. Hence coming across this at a gastrobar was a pleasant surprise. I moved from CT, USA, where we have arguably some of the best craft beer in the world, so I know good beer. This is by no means an amazing IPA but it was quite enjoyable. Maybe I just miss NE beer too much to be objective, but who knows. Nice clear copper orange color, medium body with a nice off-white head that was reminiscent of an orange cream popsicle. Nice fruity smell and the taste was good enough for a man who likes good beer :)
