Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, foamy head. Smells of zesty citrus and lighter tropical aromas, as well as a certain lactic acidity. Taste is a good balance of hints of biscuity malt and quite zesty citrus notes of grapefruit and lime, with just a hint of mango and a distinct lactic, citric acidity. Finishes with a medium acidity, light bitterness and some zesty citrus notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
What is a "Sour IPA" really, if not a non-fruited, hoppy Kettle Sour? This certainly nails that vibe with a good balance of zesty citrus hops, much lighter tropical accents and a good underlying lactic acidity. There may not be any great nuance or complexity to this, but it certainly makes for a very easy-drinking and refreshing summer beer, which is the whole point, I reckon. Overall, quite enjoyable for what it is and proof once again that M&F are the best value-for-money for craft beer in Germany right now.
