Our modern West Coast IPA shines like the California sun, smells of freedom and joie de vivre and tastes intensely fruity, like life on the West Coast of America. It shines golden in the glass and is topped by a stable, creamy head of foam.
An intensive, fruity bouquet of pineapple, lychee, passion fruit, orange, lemon and apricot captivates the connoisseur. This is joined by a little pine and a light resinous touch. The tropical fruit notes can also be found on the tongue and are accompanied by orange and citrus peel.
Hops: Idaho 7, Citra, Simcoe.

Pours a fairly clear light amber with thick, soft head.

Taste is crisp and fruity with a solid bitterness. Notes of pine, grapefruit, tea and peach with some hints of rye.

Overall, a very nice west coast IPA with plenty of bite.

Probably ~8mo old. Poured into an IPA glass.
Look: medium dark honey with a decent coating of foam
Smell: citrus fruits and spiced bread
Taste: lemon, orange rind, grass, cedar, a hint of toasted cracker. Reminds me of Green Flash or some other fairly mediocre WC IPA. No fancy new hops, no pine.
Feel: silky smooth at first, but seems to lose its carbonation and get a bit heavy pretty quickly
Overall: not my favorite flavor profile, but basically fine

Pours an almost clear, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of doughy, bready, slightly caramelly malt and citrus, tropical, resinous hops, with notes of grapefruit, mango, pineapple and pine. Taste is a great balance of doughy, bready, slightly caramelly malt and fruity, resinous, slightly herbal hops, with citrus, tropical and stone fruit notes of grapefruit, lime peel, mango, pineapple and apricot, as well as some pine and hints of black tea. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit, mango and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I've said this before and I'll say it again: Maisel & Friends represent by far the best value for money in the German craft beer market, being pretty much the only craft offerings available in 6-packs, usually at around 7€. Most of their stuff is rock solid and this is no exception, making for a really enjoyable West Coast IPA, which is a style that is so hard to find on shelves around here, especially supermarket/getränkemarkt shelves. It's bitter and resinous enough, with some fruity highlights and a decent caramel malt backbone.
