Had Double Hatchet on tap at the 'Public Kitchen' in Reading, MA. I was blown away with how good it was. Hazy, citrusy, grapefruit. Great thick mouth feel. Had a nice pithy bitterness to the finish that I enjoyed. Not an overly sweet NEIPA. Why have I not heard of this beer before? I am going to have to check out Rockport Brewing to see what else they offer, but this beer is a winner.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy yellow-orange color with a small head of puffy white foam. The head has a great level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a citrus smell, being a mix of grapefruit and some orange. There are some light bready and grainy smells as well, mixed with some notes of yeast, lemon, and lemongrass. There are some other light smells of peach and pear, rounding out the aroma nicely.
Taste – The taste begins with a rather bready and thick malt flavor, that has a moderate amount of grape, orange, pear, and grapefruit. Ther are also some hop flavors of a earthy and floral nature, which get a bit stronger as the taste advances, with them getting stronger at the expense of some of the citrus. At the same time a bit of lemon and lemongrass, as well as some flavors of grain and coriander join in, leaving one with a more malty and somewhat lightly, but more earthy hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the more chewy and thick side with a carbonation level that is low. For the hop blend and malty tastes, the feel is rather well done, making for an easy slow sipper.
Overall – A rather decent hazy double overall. Fun to try if you have the opportunity.
