my first from these guys, a little amateurish perhaps but tasty overall, great with spicy food, ill have to hit up the brewery when i am in town again. this is less than all the way clear, but not way off, holds a nice airy inch of white head, and reads german all the way, quality ingredients and simplicity are the go. i like the freshness of the malt being so evident in the nose, the yeast aspect is subtle to me but present the whole time, the water seems right, and the hops are noble and just robust enough to make an earlier than normal impact, all pretty tight, but there are subtle soapy notes and a strange ester at temperature, but real minor. the flavor has more hop than the nose, light spice earlier, more grassy floral elements later, definitely old worldy, good bitterness on the back end of this too. the grain has a lighter medium body, a tidy cereal note and then its gone, and the yeast has got this crisped up pretty good, just off dry and nicely carbonated, almost gone on the swallow and so pretty refreshing. a good introduction to this brewery, killer pizza beer, rather drinkable, well hopped, and fresh all the way. curious to get into some of their others next time...
