a really killer vienna lager, especially from a newish and largely unsung operation, i was really impressed with the quality when we visited, neat space too, recommended! this is super polished, middle of the color spectrum for the style, not quite amber but deeper than rusty orange and clear and shiny enough to see myself in. the head is a soapy white inch with great retention and tons of tiny bubbles rising up to join, looks truly lovely. biscuity nose, toffee richness but less sweet right away to me than most, awesome water profile too, minerality is evident and this is tight and clean. not a ton from the lager yeast, at least while its fresh and cold, baked bread and waffle, noble hops but really restrained, authentic and high end seeming to me, impressive. the flavor is as good as the nose, super crisp and even kind of minimal for the style, really dry and easy down, without the rich body these often have but plenty of character from the malt still, definitely has warm baked bread and a cozy vibe, but then is so snappy at the end. light hop bitterness, expert balance, super carbonated and even refreshing, just a bit of old world lager yeast as it warms, but its super subtle in here, a wrinkle. one of the cleanest and most dialed examples of the style ive had in a really long time, they should be really proud of this! dont sleep on these guys! this style never excites me but this one does...
