A blend of 1 & 2 year old golden ales brewed with malted barley, malted rye, malted oats and raw wheat. Spontaneously fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels. The beer was moved onto Ben Alder blackcurrants (Gorgate Fruit Farm, Norfolk) in tank. It remained there for 2 months before spending further time back in barrel before packaging.

my first from these guys, but it looks like they do some real cool stuff. this is 2022 vintage, old now, and it was old when it was bottled according to the label, and its sourer than maybe it was, but its quality beer, currant blended wild ale, fruit forward, tangy, probably worth whatever i paid for it, but i dont recall, i was on vacation, i love wild beer, and would have likely got this no matter what, so no comment on that. its fairly pretty, orangey pink with light and consistent haze and more head than a lot of these have, a compact inch of dense and lasting foam, nice bottle conditioning. the aroma is real piquant, currant obvious which is cool, a raspberry and rose wine nuance about it, some decent grain character too, this isnt all fruit, way more acid than funk, a decent amount of wood, less weird for a spontaneous beer, but interesting anyway, deep minerality, graphite and lead. the flavor is similar, sour the whole way, subtle hibiscus and lemon, and i think as it warms it pushes slightly into the vinegar realm, but there is enough grain on this to handle it, i feel that more than i taste it, but it works. neat oak tannins, some backend funkiness too finally, and a lot of the fruit, which is more exciting than the ferment unfortunately. great carbonation for the style, quick finishing, near dry. really neat beer overall, lacking a little in the wild complexity i was expecting from this place, but i liked it anyway, and am curious to try more, maybe a little closer to the packaging date if they are all going to have a ton of age on them when bottling already anyway. keep your eyes peeled for this stuff, small timey i think, but relevant.

Had on tap. Brownish red cloudy body with a full off-white head with pink hints. Slight barrel funk and tart currants lead both the nose and taste. Oak and hay support in both, with oak being stronger in nose. Smell is more comprehensive and potent. Feel is lighter than expected, tartness and funk are playful, bkacbone never fails but I want a little more dynamics at play here to elevate the rest of the beer
