Pours a cloudy, deep, dark amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit and just a hint of pine. Taste is a great balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and bitter, resinous, herbal hops, with zesty citrus notes of grapefruit and tangerine, as well as some pine coming through in the aftertaste. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While this doesn't quite reach the lofty heights of most American West Coast IPAs that I've tried, it really is a very nice and quite enjoyable German example of the style, especially since the style is so rarely made amongst a sea of hazy IPAs. However, this still doesn't justify the absolutely ridiculous price of 5€ for a small can that they are charging. especially when I can get an equally nice WCIPA from Hopfenstopfer or Stone for less than half that price. Great balance of solid malt backbone and bitter, resinous. citrus and slightly herbal hops to this, but I never would have bought it if I didn't get it at a discounted price at a friendly dealer.
