Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, fizzy head that fades to nothing almost instantly. Smells of roasted, caramel malt, as well as some chocolate, coffee and hints of licorice. Taste is a good balance of roasted and slightly caramelly malt and subtle chocolate and coffee notes, with hints of red berries, licorice and herbal hops also coming through. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some roasted malt, chocolate and herbal hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and light/medium carbonation.
A pleasant Baltic Porter with a good balance of roasted malt and herbal hops, lending a somewhat dry and bitter character to this. While this is not particularly rich, a Baltic Porter doesn't need to be and the subtle chocolate, coffee and berry notes definitely create an enjoyable flavor profile here that is not bereft of a certain complexity. Overall, this makes for an enjoyable Baltic Porter with a good balance and subtle complexity.
