Dark brown, approaching black, with a fat finger of chocolate milk-colored head. Decent retention and sheets of lacing.
Lightly smokey umami, bitter baking cocoa and faint coffee in the nose. Totally to style.
Umami, chocolate and strong bitterness in the taste: ash, char and pine. Tons of malt depth. The type of beer that will put hair on your chest.
Medium bodied for the style, with a slick, silky feel.
I wish I was drinking this in the dead of winter, rather than the tail end of summer. It’s everything a RIS should be.
