I am now turning my attention to my Crowler backlog as it has become substantial enough to warrant such action. OTB releases (at least) one new beer a week & given my work schedule, a Crowler for The CANQuest (tm) is the only way for me to keep up. However, I CANnot always get to drink them as soon as I procure them so my backlog has been increasing. 8=( Time to play catch-up!
From the CAN: "9.26".
I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a very careful Glug as these CANtainers are given to unCANtrollable dribbling. Once again, my thoughtful efforts paid off in the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-murky Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was very tropical with loads of mango, papaya & guava, but with a whiff of Simcoe, the naughty kitty, doing her business in the corner. Ooh. Mouthfeel was medium with a nice softness, but it made me wonder what a cleaner, more filtered version might be like. I liked that the taste was less tropical than slightly bitter, straddling an unusual fence. It gave off a fresh coolness, probably from the Simcoe, balanced by a tropical fruitiness. The bitterness was almost THERE, but once more, I felt like I was left unfulfilled. Finish was semi-dry on the cutting edge of dry. Once more, almost there, but not quite. 8=( YMMV.
